Bali Democracy Students Conference, 6-7 December 2018 (Deadline Oct 31, 2018)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia is organizing the Bali Democracy Students Conference (BDSC) as part of the 11th Bali Democracy Forum (BDF). The BDSC is a conference among students to transfer and share knowledge on the issues of democracy. It will be held in Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia, on 6-7 December 2018, parallel to the 11th BDF.

Eligibility

  1. Students majoring in various fields of study, preferably undergraduate students in Social Sciences, Political Science, Law, Communications, Cultural Studies, Linguistics, and Economics;
  2. Good oral and written communication skills;
  3. Interested in socio-political issues, especially democracy;
  4. Active in student organizations and/or the social community;
  5. Active on social media.

The application package should include:

  1. Cover letter;
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV);
  3. Letter of recommendation from the University;
  4. Photocopy of passport;
  5. A recent photograph (4x6cm, in colour); and
  6. A Statement letter stating willingness to participate in the whole program of BDSC in Bali from 5 to 8 December 2018.

The BDSC committee will cover the costs associated with the participation in the conference such as local transportation, hotel accommodation, and meal expenses for the duration of the event from 5 to 8 December 2018.

Registration can be done by sending all of the required documents by email to the BDSC committee at publicaffairs@indonesia-ottawa.org (Attn. Social Cultural Affairs) before 31st October 2018.

Southeast Asia Seminar, Kyoto University (Deadline: Aug 31, 2018)

The 42nd Southeast Asia Seminar, “Health and Rural Development based on the concept of Gross National Happiness,” 6-12 December 2018, Thimphu, Bhutan

The Southeast Asia Seminar has been held annually by the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University since 1977. This year, the seminar will offer a seven-day study tour with group discussions and presentations by the participants, and will be held in Bhutan. Applications are open to young and up-and-coming scholars, mainly in Southeast and East Asia.

Application Deadline is August 31, 2018.
